Pre-Wedding Beauty Treatments

Mom and daughter sharing a moment smiling surrounded by wedding dresses

Everyone wants to look their very best for a wedding, and this does not just apply to the bride! Our physician and staff at Youthful Reflections are pleased to offer treatments to make both the bride and groom, as well as ushers and bridesmaids, mothers and fathers look splendid for the big day. Here are some of the treatments we offer and a recommended timeline to ensure you’re healed and ready.

ZO Peel

This three-step peel uses retinol and other exfoliants to remove the dry, dead skin cells at the very top of the epidermis. This stimulates the body to produce young and fresh cells to replace them. The peel also reduces the look of large pores, fine lines and acne scars. The first treatment is performed in our office, and the second is done at home. Unlike other facial peels, ZO peel protects the skin with antioxidants and anti-irritants. We recommend three in-office peels scheduled a month apart for the best results. The final peel should be completed a minimum of 1 month before the wedding.

CO2 Laser Resurfacing

We use CO2 laser because it can remove microscopically thin layers of skin with great precision. Laser resurfacing uses short but intense pulses of laser energy to resurface and tighten the skin, resulting in reduction of scars, wrinkles, fine lines and other blemishes. Because it’s so accurate, the laser only treats the skin that needs to be treated, while leaving the healthy skin around it unharmed. There will be some light flaking of the skin for 2-3 days followed by some mild to moderate redness of the skin, similar to a sunburn, that typically resolves in 1-3 weeks. It’s recommended this procedure is done 1-2 months before the wedding.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers, such as Juvederm and Restylane, utilize hyaluronic acid, a natural substance. Hyaluronic acid locks moisture into dry or flat areas of the skin and is injected into the layer of skin just below the epidermis. There are several types of dermal fillers. Some are especially good at adding volume to the lips or cheeks, while others are useful for correcting deep wrinkles and marionette lines. Dermal fillers can improve the overall contour of your face to provide a natural, more youthful look.  Injections last up to a year, so there’s no harm in getting this done a few months before the wedding to ensure you are comfortable with amount and final look before the big day arrives.

Botox

Botox is used to correct furrows, frown lines and wrinkles, but it’s not a dermal filler like Juvederm or Restylane. It’s injected into muscles in the face with a fine needle, resulting in temporary paralysis of the muscles. This causes the line or wrinkle above it to smooth out.  It’s as if the muscle has been trained to stay relaxed! But many of our clients return for touch-up Botox treatments. After injection you may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines, with results lasting up to 4 months. Plan to get Botox approximately one month before the wedding for the best results.

Rhinoplasty

People who’ve always disliked the shape or size of their nose may choose to get a rhinoplasty, or nose job, before the big day. During this operation, the surgeon alters the bone and cartilage structure of the nose to provide a more aesthetically pleasing size and shape. Most patients can return to normal activities in 1-2 weeks, but mild to moderate swelling may take several weeks to resolve. It is recommended that patients get this surgery a minimum of 2-3 months before the wedding.
