Treating Moderate to Severe Hyperpigmentation with ZO Skin Health

Hyperpigmentation causes darkened, flat patches of skin that vary in size, shape and color. These spots, often called age spots, sunspots or melasma are caused by sun exposure or hormonal changes. They typically appear on body parts that are frequently exposed to the sun, such as the face, hands and arms. They often appear during pregnancy or after taking birth control pills.

Sunscreen can help prevent or slow the onset of hyperpigmentation but often even with it, patients may still suffer from the unwanted spots. ZO Skin Health products offer an at home relief of moderate to severe hyperpigmentation.

Melamin-C™ Skin Bleaching and Correcting Crème

This product contains hydroquinone and vitamin C to treat melasma, freckles, age spots, and other unwanted areas of hyperpigmentation.  The hydroquinone provides pigmentation reversal and inhibition while the vitamin C helps enhance the brightening of skin to maximize the appearance of even skin tone.

For severe areas of pigmentation, Dr. Boggess may prescribe Melamin-C™ Skin Bleaching & Correcting Crème. This is only available via prescription due to the highly potent bleaching solution that gradually lightens and inhibits hyperpigmentation by altering the natural processes that cause cell damage. During your office visit we’ll discuss which products are right for your skin and desired goals.

Melamix™ Skin Lightener & Blending Crème

Melamix also contains hydroquinone as an active ingredient, but is specially formulated to be used in conjunction with tretinoin. This cream helps even skin tone and reduces irritation associated with hydroquinone. While working to reduce and prevent hyperpigmentation, Melamix hydrates newly exposed skin to a fresh, more youthful look.

Glycogent™ Exfoliation Accelerator

This exfoliate provides gentle, yet effective removal of dead skin cells helping to increase cell regeneration. Antioxidants help prevent future damage while soothing the skin. This product is best used on moderate hyperpigmentation.
