Brow Lift Recovery: When Can I Wax or Thread My Brows?

If you are considering having a brow lift, you will likely have questions about how soon you can get back to your normal beauty routine. We want you to know all about brow lift recovery, including whether you can have your eyebrows waxed or threaded afterward.

A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, reduces sagging eyebrows and forehead wrinkles, improves frown lines, and makes the eyebrows look more youthful. By following postoperative care instructions, your initial wounds should heal quickly. However, your healing process will continue for several weeks to months, as your body repairs itself from the surgery. You will look good and feel good long before this healing process is complete.

How Soon Can You Wax Your Brows After a Brow Lift?

Dr. Boggess will give you instructions regarding the recovery period after your surgery. Visible signs of the surgery, such as bruising and swelling, should resolve between 1 to 2 weeks. Activities can be resumed after a week if they are not strenuous. Although different techniques may be used in the surgery, we recommend that you do not have your eyebrows waxed or threaded for at least 4 weeks after surgery.

A direct brow lift is a technique that involves an incision that is hidden within the margin of the brow on each side. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, it is of utmost importance that the surgical incisions are not subjected to anything that promotes swelling, motion, or abrasion during the time you are healing. That is why it is not the time to have your eyebrows cared for. Since you will still be in the healing mode, you can wait until your recovery is complete. Most people find that the wait is well worth the tradeoff of healing well and enjoying all of the benefits of brow lift surgery.

Heal Faster Through Nutrition

To promote faster healing, good nutrition is important after your brow lift or any other surgical procedure. Eating nutritious and healthy food help minimize post-op swelling and bruising. Certain foods can also ease stomach distress caused by antibiotics. Make sure to drink plenty of water so that impurities, as well as anesthetics, are flushed from your system.
